The region of Sanabria-Carballeda is located in the northwest of the province of Zamora, located between Galicia, León and Portugal. It is a land with a strong identity and there are many factors that make it exceptional traits that region can be more than it is today. Its people and towns have been leaving in a little over half a century a subsistence economy and have witnessed how development has resulted in a modern society. His wealth is enormous in many areas, both in energy, as in the environmental, historical or human. There are few qualities that has to grow, yet the county is not growing quite the contrary. The population has continued to decline and aging. Furthermore policies directed towards this land, from the centers of power no benefit. Some because they do not obtain, from European millionaries funds, the expected results due to wrong use, others directly because they are aimed at cutting costs and services in the region, leading to worse. From Applied Anthropology not only intended to describe an existing reality but provide solutions. These solutions should not come as much designed from the highest levels (although there must be money in them), but from the affected population who often know their environment better than the politicians who are far away.
